Integrin alpha-1 also CD49a is an integrin alpha subunit encoded in humans by the gene ITGA1. It makes up half of the α1β1 integrin duplex. Though CD49a can bind a number of ligands including collagen IV, collagen I, and others. CD49a has been implicated as a marker of tissue resident memory T cells, where it may be coexpressed with other markers CD103 and CD69. It has been shown to affect the motility of T cells.

Flow cytometric analysis of HeLa cells labeling Integrin alpha 1.
Cells were washed twice with cold PBS and resuspend. Then stained with the primary antibody (HA723594, 1/1,000) (red) compared with Rabbit IgG Isotype Control (green). After incubation of the primary antibody at +4℃ for an hour, the cells were stained with a iFluor™ 488 conjugate-Goat anti-Rabbit IgG Secondary antibody (HA1121) at 1/1,000 dilution for 30 minutes at +4℃. Unlabelled sample was used as a control (cells without incubation with primary antibody; black).
